Installing solar panels on my Van. Looking for some advice.
« on: October 17, 2019, 10:28:57 PM »
Hi guys.

I've just started getting into renewable energy but I haven't got a clue what I'm doing really. I've done a little research but I still find the numbers baffling.

I've bought a few bits and bobs that have been recommended to me by others but now comes the part where I put it all together. I have a sneaking feeling that it's not as simple as that. Here's a list of the things I've bought so far. I can't include links because I'm new so I'll include any info I can.

2 x 310W 60 Cell Solar panels
  Watt: 310Wp
  Max Snow Load 5400Pa , 112lb/ft2
  Max Voltage Vmp 32.67V
  Max Current Imp 9.49A
  Number of cells 60
  Open Circuit Volts 40.08V
  Short Circuit Amps 9.28A
  Diode Junction Box IP65
  Module Efficiency 19.00%
  Max System Volts 1000VDC
  Power Tolerance 0 - 3%
  Max Series Fuse 15A
Operating Temp: -40 OC to 85 OC
  Module Cables 4sqmm with MC4

2 x 230ah AGM 230 Leisure batteries
  Product Terminal Layout: T3
  Product Voltage: 12
  Product Ampere Hours: 230
  Product Deep Cyclic: Yes
  Product Engine Starter Battery: Yes
  Product Battery Lifespan (cycles): 600
Product Marine CCA (SAE) : 1200

1 x EPEVER Tracer 2210AN MPPT Solar Charge Controller
  Voltage: 12/24/LI
  Current: 20A
  Max PV Voltage: 100V
  Max PV Input Power: 260W(12V),520W(24V)

1 x 4000W Photonic Universe 12V Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter 230V
1 x PACO 20,000mA Automatic Battery Charger
1 x Split charge kit.

I'm quite concerned that the solar panels are too much for the charge controller. Any advice you guys can give me is much appreciated.

Man you have already made up your mind but personally i wouldn't suggest solar panels on the vehicles because it would damage the design of the vehicle and it might not be that much efficient as one think it is.
