Title: Solar PV Sizing for Residential Buildings

Hi everyone,
Please,I need someone to explain more on Solar PV Sizing for residential buildings to me.
For example, a building with a 1.3KW Load.
What should be the size of the PV Panels, battery, charge controller and inverter.

Solutionsmind,

I would get a couple of local installers in to advise.

Your first issue is that you have now missed the opportunity to benefit from the FIT scheme so the financial aspect has now altered somewhat.

You need to consider how much energy your system would produce in the depths of winter.

My personal view is go for the full 3.68kW allowed, however the economic returns need to be closely looked at. I feel that the complete withdrawal of the FIT's system with no immediate replacement is not an ideal set-up as every new install is a small step to meeting Government climate commitments.

Batteries still don't make any great economic sense for the average modern house and, to be honest, the Government would get more 'bang per buck' by investing any subsidy money available in grid scale battery projects.
