Tank in glycol loop?
« on: June 24, 2020, 03:06:21 PM »
Hello,
I have a solar heat system where we have a glycol loop from the panels through a heat exchanger and circulation pump. The PAW controller watches the temperature on the hot side of the solar panel as well as the temperature in the hot water tank in the house. When the temperature in the tank drops below min setpoint, the controller sends down hot water if the water is warm enough (55 Celsius + ).

What I am wondering is, can there be any benefit to adding a small buffer tank in the glycol loop to store some heat energy at this phase before the hot water tank asks for it?

Any input would be greatly appreciated by this newbie! (automation engineer, but don't know anything about solar heat and the theory behind it)
