Hi all

I'm a bit of a newbie in wind turbine technology, and I was watching one of these one-minute videos explaining wind energy topics (I can post the link but it's called Why do wind turbines purposefully decrease their efficiency?). The video explains that you pitch the blades in high winds in order to reduce power output and protect the generator from damage. So my question is, why don't you just put a bigger generator? As far as I know, it wouldn't be much more expensive (just a little heavier), and that would allow you to get more energy with the same blades, same gearbox, same tower, etc.

Or am I missing something?
