I am a member of a small group of 4th year engineers from the University of Glasgow who have been tasked with proposing a low-carbon energy solution which will provide 2/3 of a small town's total energy requirements. From this specification, we chose Kirkwall in Orkney. The project would include an Enhanced Geothermal System and district heating scheme.
