Hi, new to the forum.   We had a biomass installed about 8 years ago and use a 3 day burn most of the time.   We use seasoned wood from our land and we have been approved to do so.   Our neighbours, who incidentally do not live in the house, have reported us to the Environmental Department saying they cannot enjoy the comfort of their home because of the fumes and odour from our biomass boiler.   This is the second time they have complained and during a visit from the environment officer last year we stated the above and obviously when firing up ready for the 3 day burn there is bound to be some smoke but this settles down fairly quickly.   We are upset that they do not live there but still seem to have the sympathy of the Environment Officer.   Last year they stated they had had complaints from their summer visitors, we do not use the boiler in the summer, that they had kept a diary for the whole of the winter, not sure how they did this when one sister lives 200 miles from us.   they had installed equipment which gave extraordinary high readings and had spoke with the fire department who agreed with them.   We then asked for all this evidence to be presented to us as we doubted anything that had been told to the officer.   He never ever got back to us on this except to say the case had been dropped because we had no wood left in our shed.   Now it has reared its ugly head again and we are willing to put an extra length of pipe on the existing but get the feeling that whatever we do it is going to come back to bite us.   Can someone give me some advice about how to go about this problem.   Our boiler was fitted with a registered company but they no longer trade as he retired two years ago.   We are registered to supply our own seasoned wood.   Our installation certificate complies with all the regulations set out.   Please could anyone help me with this.
