Hello.  I'm using a 3kW 240V immersion heater with thermostat to heat water using PV.  I have 8 panels arranged 4*2 and a MPPT so the peak supply to the heater is about 160V DC, which works out as about 1.75kW.  The water gets heated well but when the thermostat reaches the turn off temperature, it simply arcs over, presumably due to being fed DC rather than AC.  Does anyone know of immersion thermostats that work on DC ?  Or do I just have a faulty thermostat ?
