Wind turbines: a blot on the horizon?

When wind turbines first started being introduced in the UK, there was a lot of talk about how they changed the look of the environment, and how they were unsightly. Now, I feel as though it is simply something that people have got used to, and will continue to be used to.

I certainly don't think they're attractive to look at, but there is some kind of "awesome" aura about them, they're almost "other worldly" if that makes sense at all.

If you're from a town or city, chances are seeing these things wouldn't bother you as you're not used to huge, rolling fields anyway, but what if you're from the countryside? Do you find that having these turbines near you can make a difference to the way that you feel about where you live?

I am a very "sci-fi" type person, and as a result of this I actually love the look of wind turbines. I'm sure this wouldn't be the case if I wasn't all that used to them being there, and if they were obscuring the view out of a window that I paid a premium on a property price for, but as it stands, and as far as being part of the landscape is concerned, they don't bother me, and to some extent I actually enjoy seeing them.

I don't mind the look of them, although I have to say that I do find them a little bit creepy if I have to pass them at night for any reason. They don't bother me when I'm driving through the countryside, not to the extent that I would feel the need to comment on them anyway, but there is a chance, I suppose, that if I lived somewhere and they wanted to build one where I could see it, I may well have a problem with that.
