I had been searching for nearly a year to find the ideal combination of manufacturer and competent installer to change my heating from gas boiler to air source heat pump. In discussion with Dwain the boss man of Marvel heating I told him that I could not decide to go ahead with my project until I had seen a completed installation and spoken to the owner of the property. At that stage I had had two independent surveys done regarding heat loss and radiator calculations ( one costing £400 and another one £100). both came up with specifications for the heat pump size varying by 50%. I had a further free survey by a manufacturer but the price quoted was nearly £ 5000 more than any other. Dwain told me over the phone his estimate of the size of heat pump I should budget for and about how many radiators he thought I would need to change. After visiting all the relevant shows I could not get anyone to give me a place to visit for me to see a completed installation. In the meantime Dwain sent me an email asking how I was doing with my project. I re-iterated my difficulty to him. He told me to come up to Doncaster and he would show me a completed project. He met me at the property and showed me the complete installation. I thought the installation was terrific. I know good plumbing when I see it and everything had been individually designed to fit the property. The customer was completely pleased with every aspect of the equipment and installation. A few days later I sealed the deal with Dwain at Marvel. It was the highest spec heat pump 12,000 Mitsubishi and the lowest quote of any firm. The technical surveyor called and we arranged a date for the survey. He was the best surveyor. He was interested in our project and gave us valuable knowledge of the system and its operation. He had the most comprehensive knowledge of any of the surveyors that we met. Importantly he went through every room with us in detail giving options to find out what we preferred regarding siting and size of radiators. We agreed an installation date. Then the brilliant Jack arrived. He went through the survey in detail. He was the only person who could answer all our questions and he spent time with us explaining and reassuring us as to how the system would work. We wanted our underfloor heating to be able to work differently to the house radiators. All the other surveyors said it could not be done. Jack knew how it could be done and explained it in simple terms that made us confident that we would have a system that would do everything that we wanted. The radiators arrived the day before installation as agreed. The technical staff arrive and within minutes we knew what an "Exocet" must feel like. The staff were brilliant. they explained everything and always asked us what we preferred. There was a mix up due to our not giving clear instructions. The hot water tank was installed in the wrong place. The boys said oh dear never mind and re-sited it to the place we wanted. Other installers would have said sorry mate we can't move it unless you pay. So we now have a fully installed system. Everything working. In particular the hot water system works better than the gas one did. I cant explain that but it is a bonus. We have had solar panels and batteries installed at the same time. From June to September 27th we have not used any electricity from the grid. 2788KW generated, Home consumption 1523 and export to grid 1189 I am no placing an order with Dwain for my sons house.
