Hi all,

New to the forum and looking for a little advice.  We're moved into a new house in September and with energy prices going the way they are (added to the fact that we currently use a combination of logs / coal for our heating system and hot water) we're considering changing to renewable energy for power and heating.

I have been checking online and am considering a GH-5kW Horizontal axis wind turbine system, possibly combined with a 4KW solar panel system.  It's very windy where we are in Scotland (wind farms all around us and they're just about to put in another 6 - 8 turbines, our average yearly wind force is around 7m/s) almost all year round and the roof is south facing.  So everything seems right.

I've been monitoring our energy usage and we're currently averaging 24 - 28KW per day, obviously this would go up if when we are using an electric combi boiler (or electric panel heaters).

Taking into account our energy usage plus the additional usage for the heating system / hot water, is the above system viable?  We have a budget of around £15,000 - £20,000 and are hoping that covers the cost of materials and installation.

I know this is kind of finger in the air, but any advice / suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Alex
