How do you use your collected rainwater?

We have always collected rainwater here, and have used it on the garden for as long as I can remember. We also give some to our neighbours, who have animals (we live in the country) although I have never understood why they wouldn't keep their own! The amount of money that we save from re-using this water is brilliant, as we hardly ever have to use the outdoor tap anymore.

The only thing that we are doing with our rainwater at the moment is keeping it in a bucket to use on the flowers. I have to admit that I'm rather boring when it comes to things like this, so I just keep things nice and simple for the time being. I would like to get more into it though, as I believe in renewable energy, and that's one of the main reasons that I have joined this forum.

Plants and animal feed, and sometimes I will use it to put in the dog's bowl as well. We do have a filter on our water butt, so none of the rubbish comes out with it. It's simply the case that we lift out the filter every now and again, and that tends to keep things clean enough for what we want to use it for.

An old post I know, so sorry for dragging it up. But, I usually use the collected water for dry seasons and flowers. Nothing special, but saves me using the household water.
