Solar World Solar Panels

Solar World was bought out by SunPower in 2018. The following information is here for reference only. Please check the Solar World website for up to date information.

Presence on the UK Market

Solar World solar panels are currently being used to generate power in over 100 homes across the UK. The company also has a wide portfolio for commercial installation as well, such as:

  • Office building Michon Ltd in Radcliffe-on-Trent, England, system size: 9.8 kW
  • West Bridgford Library in Nottingham, England, system size: 25 kW
  • Trago Group of Companies in South Devon, England, system size: 938,5 kW

Solar Panels

When you go to look at purchasing a solar panel from Solar World, there are three categories that you can choose from. These are:

  • Sunmodule Plus
  • Sunmodule Plus Black
  • Sunmodule Protect

Sunmodule Plus modules, and the Sunmodule Plus black modules, are suitable for a wide variety of applications. These range from pitched and flat roofs, as well as ground-mounted installation. The panels also have seamless integration, for a good look and better functionality. You can learn more about the types of solar panel available here.

Features and Efficiency

The panels offered by Solar World offer conversation rates of up to 16%. For Those in the Sunmodule Plus series, the overall design of the module is carefully planned when it comes to specific features and characteristics. These can be found below:

  • the front side of the panel is covered with hardened glass for additional protection
  • the solar cells are embedded in EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetate)
  • the rear side of the module is sealed with a high-grade laminate
  • the frame is made from clear anodised aluminium

The Sunmodule protect panels have been specially designed for long-term durability and stability. This includes 2mm thick solar glass with an anti-reflection coating that has been placed on both sides of the panel. This nifty feature helps to protect the glass from weather conditions, namely water infiltration. Solar World claims that their modules are capable of withstanding a large build-up of snow and ice.

As a result, the company carried out a lot of tests on the modules, including immersing them in a pool of water and shooting hail at it at speeds of 250mph. In fact, they even drove a car over the panels. In every test, the panels proved themselves to be incredibly resistant to extreme weather conditions as well as potential accidents.

Models Available in The UK

The Sunmodule Plus SW 200 Vario allows homeowners to make the most of their roof space. The module has been designed to be shorter than the others, which allows for an extra row of panels to be installed. This is especially beneficial to those that have smaller roofs. Looking at the table below, you can see that the SW 200 Vario is a mere 135cm in length, which is two cell rows shorter than the standard modules.

Despite the differences, this module is electrically compatible with the Sunmodule Plus SW 250. As a result, these modules are incredibly easy to install on small roofs and provide the maximum amount of flexibility possible when it comes to using up roof space. In addition to this, they are all made from polycrystalline.

The Sunmodule Protect series are the newest addition to Solar World’s product line. These panels are made from polycrystalline silicon.

Return on Investment

Solar World panels have been proven to bring in high rates of return for those who own the panels. This is due to the fact that the panels generate more wattage compared to many of the other panels on the market. Furthermore, Solar World has been working in this industry for the past 30 years, making them incredibly experienced and offering customers extra security with this knowledge.

They also work exclusively with authorised installers, so you know a qualified expert is working on your installation.

Warranty

Solar World offer two types of warranty for their Sunmodule Plus photovoltaics:

  • 25 years for linear performance
  • 10 years for the product itself

For the performance warranty, Solar World guarantees a maximum decrease in performance of 0.7% per year. Sun Module Protect solar panels carry a greater degree of warranty: The Sun Module Protect solar panels have a much larger warranty:

  • 30 years for linear performance
  • 10 years for the product itself

For the performance warranty, you are guaranteed at least 97% of the maximum power in the first year. After 21 years, this number drops down to 90%. After 30 years, you can expect the power output to be at least 86.85% - which is a remarkable guarantee.
